2026/05/08

At present, with the acceleration of the global green industrial transition and the in-depth advancement of the national ‘Dual Carbon’ strategy, ESG has evolved from an ‘optional extra’ in corporate development to a ‘mandatory requirement’ that determines long-term competitiveness. As a leading Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer and a state-controlled listed company, Foton Trucks has always remained true to its founding mission of ‘sowing the seeds of prosperity to benefit hundreds of millions of people’, deeply integrating the concept of sustainable development into its overall strategy and entire business operations.

Recently, Foton Trucks officially released its 2025 Sustainability (ESG) Report. This report marks the company’s second annual sustainability report and serves as a systematic summary of the implementation outcomes of its “Comprehensive Internationalisation, Comprehensive New Energy Transition, and Comprehensive Intelligentisation” strategy. It provides a comprehensive overview of Foton Trucks ’s solid practices and impressive achievements across six key areas: corporate governance, technological innovation, green and low-carbon development, win-win collaboration within the industrial chain, employee welfare, and social responsibility. Foton Trucks is forging a new path of high-quality development characterised by “performance growth in sync with sustainable development, and industrial upgrading coexisting with a sense of responsibility”.

With ESG at the Forefront, the Company Achieves a Historic Breakthrough in Operational Performance

Foton Trucks remains committed to treating ESG governance as the ‘ballast’ ensuring the company’s steady and sustainable progress. It has established a three-tier governance structure comprising the Board of Directors, the Sustainability Committee, the ESG Management Office and specialised sub-committees. By integrating climate governance, compliance, risk management and information security into end-to-end processes, the company has achieved a deep integration of ESG with corporate strategy, operational decision-making and performance evaluation. During the reporting period, the company achieved 100% coverage for integrity training and 100% coverage for compliance culture dissemination; its information security system obtained ISO 27001 certification; it received an ‘A’ rating for information disclosure from the Shanghai Stock Exchange for several consecutive years; and the operation of its Board of Directors was recognised as a ‘Best Practice Case’ by the China Listed Companies Association. These high standards of governance have ensured the company’s long-term healthy development.

Solid governance has translated into robust operational momentum. In 2025, Foton Trucks  delivered historic performance results: annual revenue reached RMB 61.247 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.41%; net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company stood at RMB 1.364 billion, a substantial year-on-year surge of 1,593.29%; and non-recurring net profit of RMB 826 million marked a breakthrough in high-quality profitability; Annual sales exceeded 650,000 units, maintaining its position as the undisputed leader in China’s commercial vehicle sector. The company’s operational quality, profitability and resilience have all seen a comprehensive leap forward, laying a solid economic foundation for sustainable development.

Core technologies are independently developed and controlled, with new-quality productive forces leading the industry

Technological innovation is the driving force behind Foton Motor’s ESG initiatives. The company is committed to ensuring the autonomy and control of its core technologies, with 19 R&D centres globally and a workforce of 4,025 R&D personnel. With stable R&D investment in 2025, the company filed 617 patent applications and secured 395 patent authorisations throughout the year, achieving full autonomy and control over core new energy “three-electric” technologies, full-stack intelligent driving algorithms, and key intelligent chassis technologies.

In terms of technological strategy, the company is firmly committed to pursuing three parallel paths: pure electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell. It has launched the world’s first dedicated pure-electric light-duty truck platform, ‘Qixingming’; the high-end heavy-duty truck platform, ‘Auman Galaxy’; and the dual-fuel (electric and hydrogen) intelligent heavy-duty truck platform, ‘Kawen BEACON’. This marks a significant leap from ‘converting petrol vehicles to electric’ to forward-looking development, and from single-power-train solutions to full-scenario coverage; Intelligent driving has achieved commercial deployment in high-speed trunk logistics, with operational mileage exceeding 75 million kilometres, and the launch of a Level 4 intelligent bus; intelligent manufacturing is advancing rapidly, with the Changsha Super Truck Factory selected as a typical case study for the metaverse by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Times Navigator Truck Factory recognised as a provincial-level smart factory.

From technological breakthroughs to product leadership, Foton Trucks is driving the energy revolution through innovation. In 2025, sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 101,200 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 87.2% – a growth rate higher than the industry average. With cutting-edge technology, the company is shouldering its leadership role in the green transformation of commercial vehicles, providing robust technical support for global expansion and industrial chain upgrading.

Anchored in the dual carbon goals, significant progress has been made in carbon reduction across the entire value chain

As a driving force behind the green energy transition, Foton Trucks has unveiled a clear roadmap for achieving its dual carbon goals: carbon peaking by 2028, carbon neutrality at core factories by 2035, and carbon neutrality across the entire value chain by 2050. The company is systematically advancing carbon reduction through five key initiatives: “energy efficiency improvements, low-carbon products, green manufacturing, a green ecosystem, and an energy and carbon management system”.

Environmental performance continues to improve: in 2025, the company’s total greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 9,894 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent year-on-year, a reduction of 5.6%; green electricity procurement reached 45,165 MWh, with the proportion of green energy usage rising to 11.74%; All production plants achieved 100% ISO 14001 environmental management system certification, with two national-level green factories and two green supply chains established; 58 suppliers were supported in obtaining green certification, driving collaborative carbon reduction across the supply chain; water recycling, compliant waste disposal and comprehensive VOCs management were fully implemented, with no environmental pollution incidents occurring throughout the year.

From green R&D and green production to green products and green logistics, Foton Trucks  has established a low-carbon ecosystem spanning the entire product lifecycle. The company has not only achieved its own green transformation but has also exported green technologies and standards to global markets, supporting the low-carbon transformation of global transport and ensuring that the philosophy of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” takes root in the commercial vehicle industry.

Deepening Global Expansion and Building a Robust Sustainable Industrial Ecosystem

Adhering to the philosophy of ‘Chain Collaboration and Mutual Benefit’, Foton Trucks acts as a responsible supply chain leader to build a safe, stable, green and inclusive sustainable supply chain. At the same time, the company is deepening its comprehensive internationalisation strategy, achieving a strategic leap from simply exporting products to fostering mutual benefit across the entire industrial chain ecosystem. In terms of supply chain management, the company has refined its supplier lifecycle management, established a comprehensive supplier onboarding and evaluation system, and incorporated ESG performance into supplier assessments. By 2025, it will have provided training to 825 supplier personnel, with 100% coverage of compliance and quality training for key suppliers. The company equally supports the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the supply chain, ensures no overdue payments, and drives joint improvement among suppliers in environmental, social and governance aspects.

As we stand at this new starting point marking our 30th anniversary and the launch of the 15th Five-Year Plan, Foton Motor will continue to be guided by “comprehensive internationalisation, comprehensive electrification and comprehensive intelligentisation”, integrating ESG principles throughout the entire corporate development process. By strengthening governance, empowering innovation, driving green transformation and uniting through social responsibility, we are fully committed to becoming a world-class commercial vehicle manufacturer. We will continue to contribute our strength to the sustainable development of China’s automotive industry, the global transition to green transport, and the noble vision of “spreading the blessings of Foton to benefit hundreds of millions of people”!
