2026/05/10

2026 marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. China’s commercial vehicle industry is recovering steadily amidst structural adjustments, with greening, intelligentisation and globalisation emerging as the core drivers of high-quality development in the sector. As an industry leader, Foton Motor has maintained strategic resolve and strengthened its systemic capabilities. By leveraging the synergies of its three core business segments—heavy-duty trucks, new energy vehicles and overseas operations—the company has achieved sustained and steady growth in sales, leading the industry’s recovery with robust momentum.

Data shows that from January to April 2026, Foton Motor’s cumulative sales exceeded 243,000 units, representing an 8.4% year-on-year increase; of this, April’s sales alone exceeded 60,000 units, up 10.1% year-on-year, with the overall business outlook continuing to improve. All three core business segments achieved high growth: cumulative heavy-duty truck sales exceeded 59,000 units, up 37.3% year-on-year; cumulative overseas export sales exceeded 71,000 units, climbing 32.8% year-on-year; and cumulative new energy vehicle sales exceeded 33,000 units, with April’s single-month sales surpassing 10,000 units, up 26.3% year-on-year, demonstrating increasingly distinct characteristics of high-quality development.

More Substantial Growth: Continuous Structural Optimisation and Value-Led Industry Leadership

At a critical juncture where the industry is shifting comprehensively from scale-based competition to value-based competition, Foton Motor has continuously optimised its growth structure, achieving a high-quality development landscape characterised by a more solid foundation, stronger new growth drivers and accelerated globalisation.

The heavy-duty truck business is leading the way with robust momentum for value-driven growth. From January to April, cumulative sales of Foton heavy-duty trucks rose by 37.3% year-on-year, with April alone recording a 32% year-on-year increase. This growth rate significantly outperformed the industry average, whilst market share steadily climbed, further consolidating the company’s position among the industry’s top tier. Facing a new phase of competition in a mature market, Foton Heavy Trucks has fully moved away from price-based competition and firmly shifted towards total cost of ownership (TCO) value competition across the entire product lifecycle. Centred on the high-end Auman Galaxy series, the brand leverages the deep integration of low-drag, high-efficiency bodywork, an in-house developed ‘golden powertrain’ and intelligent driver assistance systems to create product advantages that are “more fuel-efficient, more efficient, more reliable and smarter”, truly enabling users to achieve “greater peace of mind when purchasing, lower running costs, and more efficient operations”, earning high recognition from users across all scenarios, including long-haul logistics, engineering and infrastructure, ports and mines, and coal transport.

Overseas business has seen high-quality growth, with the value of going global becoming increasingly evident. From January to April, overseas exports grew by 32.8% year-on-year, with a 28% year-on-year increase in April alone; this growth rate continues to lead the industry, achieving simultaneous improvements in both scale and profitability. Particularly noteworthy is the fundamental optimisation of the export mix, with high-value-added models becoming the core growth engines: in April, exports of Ouhui buses rose by 141% year-on-year, Auman heavy-duty trucks by 54%, Ouhang and Oumako by 199%, Tuyao light commercial vehicles by 103%, and pick-ups by 38%. With high-quality heavy-duty trucks, premium light-duty trucks, new energy buses and multi-purpose pick-ups all performing strongly, Foton Motor is accelerating its transition from ‘product globalisation’ to ‘brand globalisation and ecosystem globalisation’, with its global market competitiveness and brand influence continuing to rise.

The new energy business has accelerated and achieved breakthroughs, with significant results from scenario-based implementation. In April, new energy vehicle sales exceeded 10,000 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 26.3%, continuing the strong growth momentum and becoming a key driver of the company’s high-quality development. Foton New Energy adheres to the principle of defining products by application scenarios and driving the market through service. It is comprehensively advancing parallel development across multiple technology routes—including pure electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell—with a product portfolio covering the full range of categories, from heavy-duty and light-duty trucks to buses and micro-trucks. These vehicles are deeply tailored to all application scenarios, including urban distribution, trunk logistics, port shuttle services, construction projects and public transport, resulting in a continuous increase in market penetration and influence within the new energy commercial vehicle sector.

Stronger Growth Momentum: Steadfast Strategy and Robust Systemic Support

Behind these impressive results lies the solid implementation of Foton Motor’s three major strategies—comprehensive internationalisation, comprehensive electrification and comprehensive intelligentisation—and is a concentrated manifestation of the company’s integrated capabilities in products, technology and ecosystem.

Strategic resolve anchors the long-term direction. Foton Motor is resolutely advancing its three core strategies, with all resources precisely allocated and efficiently deployed to support them. Among these, the deepening of overseas ecosystem development represents a strategic upgrade in ‘comprehensive internationalisation’; the widespread adoption of new energy vehicles across all scenarios is the market realisation of ‘comprehensive new energy transformation’; and the implementation of high-end and intelligent heavy-duty trucks is the concrete manifestation of ‘comprehensive intelligentisation’. These three strategies resonate in unison and empower one another, establishing a clear and sustainable growth logic.

Product innovation focuses on specific scenarios to precisely meet market demands. In the heavy-duty truck sector, a comprehensive upgrade is being achieved through the dual drivers of intelligence and scenario-based applications. In April, Foton Auman’s intelligent heavy-duty trucks were launched to great fanfare. The Auman Galaxy 9 HWP highway lead truck and the Auman Galaxy 5 HWA highway support truck are equipped with the commercial vehicle industry’s leading advanced intelligent driving model, achieving the mass production and deployment of advanced intelligent driving in long-haul logistics scenarios. To date, Foton Auman’s intelligent heavy-duty trucks have accumulated over 300 million kilometres of safe driving, setting a new industry benchmark for intelligent heavy-duty trucks. At the same time, Foton Heavy Trucks adheres to a multi-technology strategy covering all scenarios, spanning core sectors such as long-haul logistics, engineering and infrastructure, mining, and ports. The company pursues a balanced approach encompassing fuel-powered, hybrid, pure-electric, battery-swap and hydrogen-powered vehicles, precisely aligning with market demands and policy directions. The large-scale operation of 54 battery-swap heavy-duty trucks at Yantian Port, the bulk delivery of 166 Auman Galaxy new energy heavy-duty trucks in Shanxi, the batch delivery of 30 all-electric dump trucks in Beijing, and the fulfilment of an order for over 1,000 heavy-duty trucks from the Dangote Group in Nigeria have all served to continuously strengthen the core competitiveness and market leadership of the heavy-duty truck business through benchmark-setting bulk deliveries and real-world operational data.

In the new energy sector, growth is driven by two key factors: new platform-based products and full-lifecycle services. Built on a brand-new platform dedicated to new energy vehicles, the Qixingming all-electric light commercial vehicle redefines the standards for urban distribution logistics with its five core strengths—range, energy efficiency, space, safety and intelligence—and is set to become the mainstay of green urban delivery. Meanwhile, the high-end product portfolio—including the Auman Galaxy all-electric and hybrid heavy-duty trucks, the Kawan liquid hydrogen heavy-duty trucks, and the Ouhui new energy buses—continues to expand, comprehensively meeting diverse needs such as long-haul trunk routes, short-haul feeder services, and passenger commuter transport. In terms of service, Foton New Energy has established a dedicated, one-stop, full-lifecycle service support system: introducing a lifetime warranty policy for the three-electric systems and collaborating with industry partners to build an efficient ultra-fast charging network, enabling rapid and efficient recharging for heavy-duty trucks; a 24-hour remote diagnostics and on-site emergency rescue rapid response mechanism has been established, complemented by bespoke financial solutions and intelligent telematics maintenance services. This comprehensively reduces users’ costs associated with purchasing, operating and maintaining vehicles, driving the accelerated transition of new energy commercial vehicles from being ‘policy-driven’ to becoming a ‘market-driven choice’ through a comprehensive service ecosystem. Concurrently, scenario-based marketing campaigns such as the “Born Pure Electric: Foton Qixingxing Efficiency Appreciation Season” and the “Ten Thousand Stars: Auman Galaxy Global Value Appreciation Tour (Electric Edition)” have been rolled out nationwide. Through real-world vehicle testing, user experiences and operational validation, these initiatives are strengthening market reputation and sustaining strong demand at the retail level.

Overseas expansion is advancing in depth, and the global ecosystem is becoming increasingly robust. Foton Motor continues to deepen its “comprehensive internationalisation” strategy, accelerating the transition from trade-driven operations to localised manufacturing and full-chain operations. Overseas bases in Brazil, Thailand, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and other locations have successively commenced production and expanded their footprint. The 32 localised factories worldwide have formed a global manufacturing network characterised by extensive coverage and efficient responsiveness, effectively circumventing trade barriers and establishing deep roots in regional markets. Supply chain resilience has been continuously strengthened. In collaboration with Shanggang Logistics and COSCO Shipping Specialised Carriers, the company has established major international logistics corridors, building a dual-support system comprising “port hubs and ocean-going transport capacity” to provide solid backing for the steady growth of overseas operations. At the same time, we have maintained a dual focus on high-end development and localisation. Our premium products have won prestigious international awards, and several smart electric vehicle models have successfully entered high-end markets such as Singapore and Europe.
